Florida A&M University (FAMU) alumnus Shundrawn Thomas has been named the president of Northern Trust Asset Management. Effective October 1, Thomas succeeds Stephen Potter, who has been named vice chairman.
Northern Trust is an industry leader, providing wealth management, asset servicing, asset management and banking to corporations, institutions, affluent families and individuals.
Northern Trust Chairman and CEO Frederick H. Waddell described Thomas as a “capable leader.” “Shundrawn’s experience in developing long-term strategies, creating differentiated products, and developing and retaining talented professionals will help us continue to attract some of the largest, most sophisticated individual and institutional investors in the world,” Waddell said.
A Chicago native and graduate of FAMU’s School of Business and Industry, Thomas currently oversees the development, management and distribution of Northern Funds, Northern Institutional Funds and FlexShares Exchange Traded Funds as well as related business activities. He also oversees the managed accounts practice, which provides investment advisory solutions to existing clients and financial intermediaries.
Thomas received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from FAMU and an MBA degree from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Thomas also served on the FAMU Foundation Board of Directors from 2008 to 2016.
